Skin On Flesh just released an EP of 3 songs…
…and they definitely made a tsunami of a wave with just these 3 songs…technically there was a fourth song, but…it will be released along one of the most epic and awaited video game expansions…the Phantom Liberty expansion of Cyberpunk 2077…I’m envious…and Skin On Flesh is amazing.
The alternative rock duo is originally from Berlin, Germany actually recorded this EP titled “Terrible and Sad” when they were on a trip in Mexico…these two just have mountainous amounts of music within themselves…and they are apparently of the type that doesn’t stop, at all.
The duo made 2 out of the 3 tracks of the EP in a mix of English and Spanish…and that’s a huge point for them…this way they will appeal to both of these demographics…along with their catchy music and vocal performances, they are sure to capture the heart of any audience.
“Terrible and Sad” talks about….terrible things, really…“Aquí Está Tu Pendeja” sings about some very sad and terrible scene inside a relationship and “Se Perdió Mi Corazón” sings about how sad it is to be left out of a loving relationship…
The EP starts with a statement song and it’s the album title song “Terrible and Sad”…it’s a 1 minute 9 seconds song and it even starts with the lyrics…terrible…and…sad…
The song is heavy with emo punk rock energies…and it keeps building up into an explosive outro…
“Aquí Está Tu Pendeja” is the second track and it takes its time in building up its world…bit by bit until the music starts showing its bite…and it bites with heavy guitar and an energetic drum beat…the vocal performance is a huge highlight here…the way the lyrics are delivered, cut and melodically performed are definitely a huge thing here…
There’s also some kind of a musical bridge that has the emotional energy of the chili peppers all over it…I love it…there is a guitar solo near the end that carries the tone of Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain…
Last but not least the duo gives us “Se Perdió Mi Corazón”…and when I first heard its intro, I got TOOL vibes…but once the drum beat kicks in, it takes it into a completely different direction…a more indie punk direction…this song also takes its time to build up…to take us bit by bit, all the way till the end of the song…this song keeps a steady crescendo till the very end…a very unique experience…
…I spoke about a fourth song…the one that will be featured in Cyberpunk 2077:Phantom Liberty…we didn’t have a chance to check this one out…but knowing the extremely high standard levels of CD Projekt, it’s going to be nothing less than an amazing experience.
We wish all the best to the super duo, Skin On Flesh, can’t wait to heat the new stuff.
Cheers!
