I thought it would be hard to believe that I am introducing to you an album that combines elements of country, blues, and post-punk. Right? Well, the Well-known New York blues-rock fixture, Phil Gammage released last February his latest album, Redeemed, which really made me keep it in a repeat mood for quite some time. Let’s find out why.
The 10-track album diversity is stunning indeed. The album reflects his life and work, paying tribute to American stories and images. His raw vocals along with the classic music touch give you goosebumps already and let you lean back, and close your, and just listen. Gammage, a talented musician with a diverse fan base, is known for his storytelling and unique voice. With a career spanning 45 years, he has released numerous albums and founded Prefab International in 2014. While collaborating with various artists, now he focuses more on his music. He has already launched three songs, namely “Right On,” “Messages from the Grave,” and “The Woman In the Window,” all accompanied by music videos. Showing a deep passion for the visual aspect of his art, each video narrates the song’s story through visuals, including the title track video, set to release with the album.
Definitely, the music video of the album title track is the best indeed. It’s pretty obvious the hard work that has been done in the filming process. “Redeemed” reflects Johnny Cash and gospel music, with the video as a tribute to Gammage’s career and connections. “No doubt this was one of the most fun videos to work on, and it also took the longest … one year. Our patience payed off and all of the visuals are outstanding. The song is about one man’s search for redemption in his everyday life and it takes him to different places, thus the multiple location video shoots. I’m really thankful to the many talents that contributed. Special thanks to the fine folks at Green Kill artists space in Kingston for filming the interior shots.” – Phil Gammage explained.
The music video for the title track, filmed in three different towns, captures the essence of the song in a lively and engaging way. Produced by PreFab International Cine, with audio production by Phil, and featuring actor Michael LaPorte. “I’m really thankful to the many talents that contributed. Special thanks to the fine folks at Green Kill artists space in Kingston for filming the interior shots.” – Gammage added.
