Album: Postcards From Pluto by Brother Guy

With an album name unique as “Postcards From Pluto”, you know you’re in for a unique ride…a journey across a huge emotional chasm that we’re yet to know…coming from the Boston musical group “Brother Guy”…let’s jump aboard and explore this one of a kind adventure.

Right off the bat, Brother Guy being the instrumental eclectic musical group they are, they hit us with the first track on the album, titled “Heavy Wait”…it’s a very hard-to-categorize track, it’s trippy, it’s a fusion, it has powerful drums, guitar riffs…and percussion…with huge emotional and energetic difference in the verses and choruses…the verses are musical, laid back and chill while the choruses are heavy, unconventional, powerful and…tastefully trippy.

…with a track like this as an intro to the album…and with a name like “Postcards From Pluto”…we know, it’s going to be a rollercoaster of emotions…and that happens many times in the album.

The unique dynamic shift occurs very musically also during their third track “Aashaa”…it moves from powerful to chill to 70s to a jam-like free for all musical experience…and that is one aspect that is unique to Brother Guy…they have the ability to create pure music that feels free of any constraints…they do excellent music, with powerful melodies, amazing shifts in direction mid-song and they do it in a top-notch way that feels untouchable.

…Brother Guy is unreplicatable.

The album continues to create this very fresh musicality that is unheard of, then they give us yet another surprise, a song, after 3 instrumental tracks, they hit us with “Naysayer”…which incorporates some vocals in strategically placed sections…sharing some musical DNA with the greatest like Khruangbin…a very groovy melodic symphony.

“Postcards From Pluto” has many musical treasures…actually every track in its 8 tracks is a musical diamond, pure, and will stand the test of time.

The album is a very musical experience with strong 70s vibes and also some wild trippy elements that really elevate the album…the eclectic nature of Postcards From Pluto really shines bright here…creating a unique and unmissable musical oddysee for music fans out there.
